Behind the Sounds

This album serves as a “transitional point” in Ofra Haza’s career. On one hand, it features the songs from the final stage show of the Hatikva Neighborhood Workshop; yet on the other, it is clear to anyone looking at the cover who the undisputed star is—Ofra’s image and name appear alone, without mention of the Workshop’s name.
Although Ofra performs every song on the album, it is not considered her first solo album (a title reserved for Al Ahavot Shelanu). The reason lies in the origin of the material—all the songs were born from the Workshop’s theatrical production. Its brief mention in the press at the time (such as in “Maariv” newspaper) serves today as a historical record of this specific phase in her career, just moments before the major breakthrough that would redefine Israeli music.

Critical Acclaim

“A pleasant and fine album, in which the singer, with her rich and warm voice, justifies her place at the top. She captivates the listener… A recommended record!”
