What Do Your Eyes Say

Ofra: “I sang this song for the first time when I was 12, when I took part in the radio show First Applause. I always loved that song. When made me decide I had to record it was a letter I recieved from Yuval Shenhar, the son of Isaac Shenhar, who wrote the song. He wrote me: ‘I think you are the best singer we have. When you decide to record old songs, I would appriciate it if you would record my father’s song, ‘What Do Your Eyes Say’. My father would have loved to hear it in your voice, even though famous singers already sang it'”.

Lyrics

The sun sinks into the sea
A soft wind moans
Who dreams of you
At the bare army post

Two lights in the night
In the night, in the night
Suddenly tell me, tell me
What your eyes say
Your eyes, your eyes
Without telling all, all

Between rocks, rocks and mountain
A lonely, lonely tree sleeps
Who goes, goes to you
With the coming, the coming of evening?

Two lights in the night
In the night, in the night
Suddenly tell me, tell me
What your eyes say
Your eyes, your eyes
Without telling all, all

In the light of morning, morning
When I return from battle, when I return
Will I yet find, will I find
A vestige, a vestige of my dream?

Two lights in the night
In the night, in the night
Suddenly tell me, tell me
What your eyes say
Your eyes, your eyes
Without telling all, all
Without telling all, all
