Bezalel Aloni: “The song was written and produced in Bahia, Brazil, where we were invited by film director Zalman King so that Ofra could participate in his new film Wild Orchid, starring Jacqueline Bisset and Mickey Rourke. We were taken on a tour of the ancient port of Bahia and shown various dark, cave-like rooms. It was explained to us that slave traders would bring the men and women kidnapped from Africa to this port before they were sold into slavery. This visit left us in shock, and on the way back to the hotel, we already wrote the song ‘Slave’s Dream.’ The next day we recorded it in a primitive studio, and the result was deeply moving for everyone.”
