Galbi

  • Lyrics: Aharon Amram (English Lyrics: Bezalel Aloni )
  • Music: Aharon Amram
  • Arrangements: Izhar Ashdot
  • Album: Shaday (1988)

“Galbi” (My Heart), the famous love song written and composed by Aharon Amram, is the track that paved the way for Ofra Haza’s musical revolution. In fact, it was the first song from the Shirey Teiman album to receive a modern club remix (as early as 1984), even before the major breakthrough of Im Nin’alu. The version appearing on the Shaday album is an upgraded 1988 remix featuring new English vocal recordings. The song is considered a milestone that opened the door for the fusion of Yemenite folklore and contemporary Western production.

Galbi
OH… OH… GALBI… GALBI
GALGI YA HEB IL HAWA

You stole my soul
You take my breath away

You take my breath away

What can I do, what can I say
When you're so far away

What can I do, what can I say
When you're so far
