Behind the Sounds

Recorded for the German record label Teldec, the album was intended to be Ofra’s entry ticket into the global market. However, as a perfectionist who refused to compromise on her artistic truth, Ofra felt that the Westernized pop materials dictated to her did not complement her unique voice or reflect her true identity. A turning point occurred after the recording of Love Song: Ofra and her management realized that the true magic lay in the fusion of modern sound with ethnic roots. Ofra and Bezalel decided to scrap the project – a bold decision that ultimately led to the creation of the iconic album Shaday.

Although the album was never officially released, the few promo copies distributed to industry professionals have become rare and highly sought-after collector’s items over the years. Some of the songs from the sessions were later reworked and reimagined for Shaday.
